けさ しちじ、トムから てがみが くる。トムは アメリカの ともだちだ。
At seven this morning a letter comes from Tom. Tom is my friend in America.
てがみに いい はなしが ある。
The letter has good news.
トムは らいげつ にほんに くる。
Tom is coming to Japan next month.
ぼくは トムに てがみを かく。
I write Tom a letter.
けど、きってが ない。
But I have no stamp.
ごご さんじ、ぼくは えきの みせで きってを かう。
At three in the afternoon I buy a stamp at the station shop.
それから、ポストに いく。いま、てがみは ポストの なかだ。
Then I go to the postbox. Now the letter is inside the postbox.
ばん はちじ、トムから でんわが くる。
At eight in the evening, Tom calls.
トム
「いま、とうきょうに いる!」
"I'm in Tokyo right now!"
ぼく
「とうきょう? らいげつじゃない?」
"Tokyo? Not next month?"
トム
「かいしゃの しごとだ。きのうから とうきょうに いる。」
"It's for work. I've been in Tokyo since yesterday."
ぼく
「あした、ぼくの いえに こない?」
"Want to come to my place tomorrow?"
トム
「うん、いく!」
"Yeah, I'll come!"
ぼくの てがみは まだ ポストの なかだ。
My letter is still inside the postbox.
あした、てがみは アメリカの トムの いえに いく。
Tomorrow the letter leaves for Tom's house in America.
けど、トムは いま にほんに いる。
But Tom is in Japan now.
あした、ぼくは トムに てがみの はなしを する。
Tomorrow I'll tell Tom what the letter says myself.
