Learning
Learn Japanese, Korean, Spanish and French free
What you can learn for free in Open Lingo, language by language, and where to start as a complete beginner.
Japanese #
Start with Hiragana and Katakana using stroke-order guides and handwriting tracing, then move into vocabulary, grammar and kanji readings. Japanese is the most complete course, covering grammar up to roughly JLPT N4 level. A placement test lets you skip what you already know.
Korean #
Learn Hangul first: letter shapes, stroke order, and recognition drills, then build up to sentences, particles and everyday grammar. Speaking steps check your pronunciation with speech recognition. The Korean course is growing module by module.
Spanish #
Learn core vocabulary and grammar through short lessons that mix listening, tile-built sentences and spoken answers. The Spanish course is growing module by module.
French #
The same lesson format as the other courses: short lessons, listening, speaking and spaced-repetition review. The French course is growing module by module.
How it stays free #
Every course above is free to use. Reviews follow an FSRS-6 spaced-repetition schedule, so words come back just before you would forget them. See Getting started to begin, Flashcards and reviews for how scheduling works, or the FAQ.
