Rooms of the house in Spanish, and the things in them
The home is where the Spanish course first teaches nouns with their articles and the words for locating things. These lists cover the rooms, the everyday objects in them, and the small words (hay, está, en, aquí, allí) that turn a noun into a sentence about where it is.
Good to know
- Every room has a gender: la cocina, el baño, la sala, el comedor. Learn the article with the word.
- hay introduces something (hay una silla); está locates something you already have in mind (la silla está en la cocina).
- en covers in, on and at: en la mesa, en la casa.
- cuarto is a room in general; dormitorio is specifically the bedroom.
